About the Film
Turn Table is a high-energy, heart-filled short film that challenges perceptions and flips the record on who gets the spotlight. Inspired by The Breakfast Club and High Fidelity, it throws you into the loud, messy, and nostalgic world of a local record store. At the center is Dylan, a young man with Down syndrome, on a mission for one specific vinyl. But he’s not just looking for a record. He’s changing the labels.
The film won Best Live Action Film among a lineup of outstanding projects, recognized for its resonant themes, heartfelt spirit, unique protagonist, and a story that is both universal and deeply personal.
It stars my brother—and best friend—Jake. Turn Table is a response to every time we’ve heard people say, “Is he okay?” or “That must be hard.” Jake has Down syndrome, but it doesn’t define him. I made this film to show just how much more there is to see.
The project was made possible thanks to an outpouring of support from the Rochester Down Syndrome community and features a rock-filled soundtrack created by Rochester-based musicians, bringing the treasure chest of this record store to life.
Turn Table is officially wrapped and now making its way through the film festival circuit.
